Support Mobile Baykeeper efforts and hear popular local entertainers at SanRoc Cay September 1–3, 2010.

Even volunteer organizations cost money to operate, so Sweetwater Brewing Company, SanRoc Cay Marina & Shops, North Shore Grill and Beach CITE Studios have joined together to raise funds for care of our precious resources.

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 brings LeAnn Creswell & Rick Whaley to the courtyard of SanRoc Cay (Orange Beach, Alabama) from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m.

Thursday evening features The Most Wanted Band and Friends from 6:00 until 9:00, then the action moves inside to the Listening Room at Beach CITE Studios for the Wes Loper Band from 9:00 until midnight

John Joiner begins the Friday evening schedule at 6:00, along with North Shore Grill’s smoked Boston butt take-out sale. At 9:00, move into North Shore Grill to kick it up with Jon Cook & Ryan Baltrop Swamp Music Throwdown.

On Saturday, an all-day tailgate-style part in the Courtyard will be followed by JJ Mack playing 6:30–9:30. At 9:30, The Soul Wig ParTay Band will begin playing in North Shore Grill.

Sunday’s all-day music schedule starts with a gospel brunch with Jody Payne and Cowboy Johnson 11–2, followed by the Knee Deep Band 3–6 and ending with Coconut Radio 6–9.

Lisa Christian kicks off the Monday festivities in the North Shore Grill at 1:00. At 3:00, Paul Killough and Alan Grossman take over the stage, followed by Cowboy Johnson, Jody Payne and Jon Cook at 6:00 until 9:00.

Proceeds from the six-day event will help to sustain the current programs of the Mobile Baykeeper organization, increase awareness and encourage involvement. Locally, more than 4,000 people participate in their activities. Some of your favorite Broadway music will play near the coast Sunday, August 29, 2010.

Although Gulf Shores is a little more than “Forty-Five Minutes from Broadway,” “The Music of the Night” will be taken from four hit Broadway shows: The Wizard of Oz, Grease, Phantom of the Opera and George M! These musicals were carefully chosen to represent music and theater from different eras, enhancing the entertainment impact. You are sure to know some—or maybe all!—of the much-loved songs, making it a fun way to spend one of the year’s last “Summer Nights.”

The tiny $5 donation per ticket for the 7^th Annual Evening of Broadway helps to fund not only the music ministry of the church, but also community concerts throughout the year. Tickets for the 7:00 p.m. performance may be purchased ahead of time at the church office or at the door. You’ll find the church on Hwy. 59, next to the Winn Dixie shopping center. Al Martin provides jazz piano August 27 in the Listening Room of Beach CITE Studios at SanRoc Cay.

Local legend Al Martin will treat your ears and hearts to a swinging celebration of jazz. Seating is limited in the Listening Room, so reservations for the 7:00 show are encouraged. The affordable $10 donation ($15 at the door) is a great bargain for the professional level of entertainment. But your ticket covers more than a couple of hours of musical pleasure.

Quoting from their literature, Beach CITE “donations are to support the artists and our non-profit organization’s vision to provide art experiences in Orange Beach and for the local community which promote creativity, bring people together, inspire success, and impart positive values.”

They also want the community to know that “If emotions are touched by art or music created at Beach CITE Studios, then we shall have achieved success.”

Party Cajun-style at The Hangout this Labor Day Weekend!

From 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, August 20, you’ll be treated to a Hot Glass Cold Drinks celebration. Food and drinks are just the beginning, accompanied by the uplifting, sophisticated guitar sounds of Roman Street.

Wander through the Arts Center and around the grounds, and you’ll find all kinds of artistic activities in progress. Glass-blowing demonstrations will be offered by Mark Lupeta, Steve and Dee Burrow will show their process of pottery making, and Opal Young will invite you to watch as she creates a painting.

A public mosaic project will be led by Connie Blum, so don’t pass up your opportunity to add your personal touch. “Bob” the Art Car will be making a special appearance. And you know you can’t pass up a chance at a raffle, especially when it will benefit the Arts Center.

This Birthday Bash is also the opening of the 2010 Members Show. Check out new works by your favorite artists while you discover some new favorites to admire.

Free musical entertainment with Doug Breau on Thursday, August 12, at Gulf Shores' Erie Meyer Civic Center.

Doug segues between country & western favorites and popular standards, and talks to a large audience as easily as he would to a few friends in his living room. He loves what he does and truly enjoys sharing his music with all ages. This particular show will highlight music from the 1940s through the 1970s.

Joining Doug on the stage will be Katie Belle, 1991 Female Vocalist winner of an amateur talent contest sponsored by the Country Music Association in northern New England. When Doug and Katie met, they knew they would enjoy working together, so they often appear on each other’s shows.

The indoor concert begins at 7:00 p.m.—and admission is free, so don’t miss it. You’ll find the Civic Center at the corner of W. 19^th Ave. and W. 2^nd St., just a few blocks northwest of the Hwy. 59/Fort Morgan Rd. intersection.

The last two shows in the 2010 Gulf Shores Out & In series will be August 26, indoors, with The Heltons, and September 9, outdoors, with Brent Burns.
