Big Game at the Beach

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

Think ahead to February 5, 2012. It’s the height of the winter season. You need to escape to the beach for a bit of warmth, a change of pace, relaxation . . . and football.

Imagine watching the biggest football game of the year while looking out over the beach. Meyer Vacation Rentals can help make that happen for you!

That combination may not be top of mind, but why not? On Super Bowl Sunday, wouldn’t you love to chuckle at the idea of parkas, hats and gloves to get to and from the stadium as you admire the beach view from your condo?

Let us help you make the decision by sweetening the pot with FREE nights. Pay for 2, 3 or 4 nights in a condo and get an extra night free, or book a house for 3 or 4 nights to get another night free. Better yet, come enjoy the beach life for a week—pay for 5 nights in either a house or condo, and we’ll give you TWO more free nights! (Even if you can’t stay the extra nights, you can use those as a late check in or check out.) You’ll find the details at our Lazy Winter Special page.

If you’d like to watch the big game among a cheering crowd AND play some games (how about a grand prize of $5000?), join the folks at The Hangout for their Super Bowl Sunday party. The first 200 people in the door an hour before kickoff will receive free tailgating food, and the regular menu also will be available.

BCS Championship Party at The Hangout

Thursday, January 5th, 2012

What’s your favorite color? You likely have one or two favorites that show up often in your wardrobe and your home décor. No matter what those colors may be, Monday, January 9, you’ll be bragging that your favorite colors are either purple and gold or crimson and white.

The more the merrier as you cheer your favorite team in the BCS football championship. Food, prizes and lots of fun at The Hangout.

You may typically cheer for another team throughout the season (gasp!), but you’ll be choosing sides for this epic rematch of Alabama and LSU. The next best thing to being at the stadium in New Orleans is enjoying it with lots of food, plenty of TVs and a large group of fans representing both sides. And The Hangout in Gulf Shores is making that happen, with assistance from BP.

The first 400 people who arrive for the 5:00 watch party will receive free tailgating food, and the regular menu will be available to everyone. The 20+ TV screens will all be tuned to the championship game that begins at 7:30, but in-house games begin much earlier. Wear your best “Fantastic Fanatic” attire to win the costume contest. Try your hand at trivia, corn hole and football toss challenges. Compete in the frozen T-shirt, plasma car and square board games. You might even win a pair of 3-day passes to The Hangout Music Festival (May 18-20). And be sure to register to win one of four vacations along the Gulf Coast, from Florida to Louisiana.

The regular-season match-up between LSU and Alabama was decided by an LSU field goal in overtime. And this is the first BCS championship to feature two teams from the same conference. So this is not just any football game, or even any ol’ championship game. It’s THE game of games, so be sure to make it a full-blown event by partying big at The Hangout.

Make it even more fun by staying at or near the beach for a long weekend. Save money by checking out the great prices you can find with our Hot Deals on Gulf Shores condos or Fort Morgan houses.

Sports Legends at Saturday’s Dinner

Friday, May 7th, 2010

University of Alabama. Auburn University. You won’t find a much bigger college rivalry, certainly not in this state.

Support high school football and talk with your favorite college athletes Saturday night in Gulf Shores.

But for one evening, stars from both teams join together to tell stories, answer questions and meet their fans—all to benefit the Foley High School football program.

Taking part in the 2010 Legends Dinner on Saturday, May 8, will be Crimson Tide players/Foley grads Julio Jones, Robert Lester and D.J. Fluker, as well as past players Roger Schultz, Bob Baumhower, Jeff Rouzie and South Alabama coach Joey Jones. Auburn will be represented by “Wild Bill” Cody, Kurt Crain, Tom Banks and Brandon Johnson.

The $40 ticket admits you to an evening that includes a shrimp boil and chicken dinner, cash bar, live music and, of course, interaction with the football players. Tickets for the 6:30 event, to be held in Gulf Shores at the Erie Meyer Civic Center, can be purchased at the following locations:

  • Meyer Real Estate in Gulf Shores
  • all First National Bank of Baldwin County locations
  • Baumhower’s Wings restaurants in Mobile and Daphne
  • Bimini Bob’s in Daphne
  • Foley High School

For more information, call the Foley High fieldhouse at 251-943-6539.
