Six days of entertainment by popular local musicians means three opportunities to join together as a community to benefit ecological programs along our coastal area.

Support Mobile Baykeeper efforts and hear popular local entertainers at SanRoc Cay September 1–3, 2010.
Even volunteer organizations cost money to operate, so Sweetwater Brewing Company, SanRoc Cay Marina & Shops, North Shore Grill and Beach CITE Studios have joined together to raise funds for care of our precious resources.
Wednesday, September 1, 2010 brings LeAnn Creswell & Rick Whaley to the courtyard of SanRoc Cay (Orange Beach, Alabama) from 6:30 to 10:00 p.m.
Thursday evening features The Most Wanted Band and Friends from 6:00 until 9:00, then the action moves inside to the Listening Room at Beach CITE Studios for the Wes Loper Band from 9:00 until midnight
John Joiner begins the Friday evening schedule at 6:00, along with North Shore Grill’s smoked Boston butt take-out sale. At 9:00, move into North Shore Grill to kick it up with Jon Cook & Ryan Baltrop Swamp Music Throwdown.
On Saturday, an all-day tailgate-style part in the Courtyard will be followed by JJ Mack playing 6:30–9:30. At 9:30, The Soul Wig ParTay Band will begin playing in North Shore Grill.
Sunday’s all-day music schedule starts with a gospel brunch with Jody Payne and Cowboy Johnson 11–2, followed by the Knee Deep Band 3–6 and ending with Coconut Radio 6–9.
Lisa Christian kicks off the Monday festivities in the North Shore Grill at 1:00. At 3:00, Paul Killough and Alan Grossman take over the stage, followed by Cowboy Johnson, Jody Payne and Jon Cook at 6:00 until 9:00.
Proceeds from the six-day event will help to sustain the current programs of the Mobile Baykeeper organization, increase awareness and encourage involvement. Locally, more than 4,000 people participate in their activities. One of the many ways for you to be involved is to come enjoy some of the area’s best entertainment and give generously to support the efforts to keep our waters clean and safe.

Live music and a good cause seem to go hand-in-hand. So kicking off a month of fund-raising and awareness with two regionally popular musical acts is a great idea—especially when the party is located at a favorite local eatery and sponsored in part by a Southeastern craft brewery!

The fundraising fun begins at "SweetWater 4:20 p.m." on Sunday, August 1 at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Support the Save the Gulf program!
Save the Gulf is a program of the Mobile Baykeepers organization, whose mission is to provide citizens a means to protect the beauty, health and heritage of the Mobile Bay Watershed. By attending any of their fund-raising events, your donation will assist with their hands-on activities and their awareness campaigns.
August 1, 2010, is the first day of the Save the Gulf campaign. Through Labor Day, you are encouraged to participate as often as possible in their efforts and to help spread the word about the work they do to keep our waterways clean and ecologically sound.
The first event will be held at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, so plan to have dinner there while enjoying the performances.
For a donation of only $10, you will be treated to the music of Wes Loper, who combines country, rock, folk, beach and blues styles to make his mark on the music world. His appearance alone would be more than worth the small donation, but with a start time of “SweetWater 4:20 p.m.,” that’s just the first part of the event. Following him is Wet Willie with Jimmy Hall and the Hurricane Horns, cranking up their Southern rock sounds with high energy.
Between songs, be sure to tell the folks from SweetWater Brewing Company how much you appreciate their involvement in this and other environmental programs they support.

It has been nearly 12 years since Jimmy Buffett played for local audiences—a 1998 fundraiser in Mobile benefited hurricane relief efforts. In just a few days, Jimmy will once again lend his musical fame to raise money for the Gulf Coast, this time appearing in Gulf Shores as a response to the oil spill disaster. The concert’s goal is to promote beach tourism and raise money for wildlife-related organizations to better respond to the crisis.
Upon learning of the fundraising effort, some of Jimmy’s friends offered to help out by donating their talents, as well. Joining Buffett and his Coral Reefer Band for this free show are the Zac Brown Band, Kenny Chesney, Sonny Landreth, Allen Toussaint and Jesse Winchester.
A large stage will be erected at the west end of the Gulf Shores Public Beach, where attendees will be able to enjoy the performances accompanied by the gentle sounds of the surf on Sunday, July 11. Gates will open at 3:00 p.m., and the first performer will take the stage at 5:00. Cable channel CMT will broadcast live from 7:00 until 8:30 p.m.
More information will be shared as it becomes available, including other star-studded, benefit beach concerts this summer.
Although admission is free, a ticket is required for entrance—and we can help. If you have a reservation with Meyer Real Estate, you are eligible to register for a pair of tickets. Multiple pairs are available, so your chances of winning are very good! Simply have your confirmation handy, and fill in the registration information by no later than 5:00 p.m. (CDT) on Tuesday, July 6. Winners will be notified on Wednesday, July 7.

Muscle cars and antique automobiles go with fried and grilled shrimp, fish and chicken. A silent auction and a raffle go well with live entertainment by Brent Burns. More than 30 arts & crafts vendor booths pair with K9 demonstrations plus kids’ activities such as rock wall climbing and balloon jumps.

Support youth sports programs at the Orange Beach Seafood Festival and Car Show Feb. 20.
And you, combined with the Orange Beach Sports Association, make it possible for the area’s young people to experience organized sports activities throughout the year.
From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, you can have an impact on this organization by enjoying the Seafood Festival and Car Show—especially when you sink your teeth into the delicious (and generous) $10-per-plate seafood meal.
You can capture the fun and support this good cause at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, located off Canal Road, about a half mile east of the Foley Beach Express. To learn more about the annual event, call the Orange Beach Parks & Recreation office at 981-6039.

Two local events this weekend promise a change of pace from the typical beach and/or winter activities. And after the recent cold spell, these offerings give you fun reasons to get out of the house and enjoy the warmer air.
Saturday morning, January 16, is the 7th Annual Yard and Craft Sale indoors at the Orange Beach Community Center, 27235 Canal Rd. Proceeds benefit American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, so you’ll want to take advantage of one of the area’s largest yard sales to find bargains and to make a difference at the same time.
The sale begins at 7 a.m. and ends at noon, but get there early for the greatest selection of items. Sausage biscuits & gravy and coffee are available to keep your energy up as you wander through the aisles and booths. For more information, call 251-981-1524.
Saturday and Sunday, January 16 & 17, brings the 8th Annual Gold Coast Coin & Currency Show to Foley. The free admission encourages visitors of all ages, and everyone can learn many interesting tidbits by taking time to talk with the folks involved.
Located at 407 E. Laurel (Hwy. 98 east of Hwy. 59), the doors will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Prizes will be awarded, so be sure to buy your raffle tickets. Call 251-943-1486 for further information.

For two days, November 6 and 7, 2009, Oak Hollow Farm will be flooded with the sounds of motorcycles revving, musical entertainment, and lots of folks having a great time.

The annual Angel Ride raises funds for children's unmet health care bills. Enjoy The Charlie Daniels Band and more November 6 and 7, 2009.
Bringing everyone together is a mutual desire to help children. The annual Rileigh and Raylee Angel Ride is organized to raise money to help families of children who have medical needs that insurance won’t cover. The contributions raised so far have allowed for 489 disbursements to grateful families.
Friday’s musical lineup starts with Waylon Thibodeaux at 7:00 p.m., and continues with Chuck Wicks at 9:00 p.m.
Saturday concerts begin at 4:00 p.m. with Todd Simpson & Mojo Child, followed by Confederate Railroad at 7:00 and winding up with the grand finale by The Charlie Daniels Band at 9:00 p.m
In addition to the outstanding performances, visitors can enjoy a bike show and judging, silent auction, and raffles. Food and trade vendors provide opportunities for meals, snacks and a variety of artistic treasures. And the children’s tent offers plenty of activities to keep the young ones entertained.
The non-stop, escorted Angel Ride at 2:00 Saturday is open to anyone with a motorcycle 600cc or larger. What an impressive site it is to see such a large mass of bikes make the loop from Hwy. 98 to CR 104 to Hwy. 59 and back to Oak Hollow Farm!
The grounds open Thursday for campers and vendors, and Friday for everyone. For ticket prices and more details about the event, as well as information regarding the Angel Ride Foundation, please visit www.angel-ride.com.
During the Angel Ride weekend or any time of the year, enjoy the sunshine and sand at the beautiful beaches of the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast. With the help of Meyer Real Estate, you will find generous specials and Hot Deals that create an ideal combination of fun and affordability.
