The state-of-the-art Listening Room at Beach CITE Studios will once again be filled with top-notch talent this Friday, May 6, when singer/songwriter Jim St. James and his guest Vic Saul take the stage.

Enjoy the music of Jim St. James and Vic Saul on Friday, May 6, 2011, at Beach CITE Studios.
Jim St. James began developing his style in the mid 1980s as he traveled to open mic opportunities around his stomping grounds of northwestern Indiana. As an owner of local coffee houses, he enjoyed his time at the mic between the hundreds of acts he brought in. But he also yearned for a larger opportunity as a performer, eventually living and honing his talents in Nashville, Los Angeles and Austin. In 2007, his song “Caroline” reached Number One on independent music charts, and he now claims the Number Five spot in the folk/rock category for Chicago’s Reverbnation charts.
Vic Saul may describe himself as half Welsh/Cornish and half Lithuanian, but he fits right into any local scene, performing his brand of folk, country with a touch of blues, or as he likes to call it, “acoustic dance.” Saul has appeared at the Frank Brown International Songwriters’ Festival in the fall several times. He says, “I love the whole Frank Brown Festival, and the Nashville artists who come down for it. There’s a lot of Nashville musical refugees down here on the Gulf Coast, but personally I think this is where all the good stuff is anyway.”
Both members of the talented duo will shine during the solo spotlight, but their collaboration material sparkles as well, highlighting a vibrant musical exchange only possible in a live setting. You will want to be there to experience it all, so bring a donation for admission and arrive as early as 6:30 for the 7:00 concert. This intimate Beach CITE setting at SanRoc Cay in Orange Beach will fill up quickly, so it is suggested to call 251-981-1989 to reserve your place.

The name “Cowboy” may not come to mind when you hear someone was born in England. And the name “Cowboy” isn’t usually a legal name chosen by parents. So let me explain:

Celebrate Cowboy Johnson's new CD at a concert and party Friday, April 29, 2011, at Beach CITE Studios in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Baby Boy Johnson was born into an Air Force family that happened to be stationed in England. The young boy then spent many childhood hours singing gospel music at churches in California. But at age 15 his family moved to Minnesota, and at age 16 this young man was on his own, working in South Dakota mines, playing music, and living hard. When an upset neighbor referred to Johnson as a “cowboy” after shooting up a mailbox, the moniker stuck—and for the past 30 years the tattoo on his chest proudly proves that “Cowboy” is his name.
Having conquered his alcohol addiction 24 years ago, and experienced the hurt of four divorces, the excitement of his three children’s births, and the sorrow of losing both parents, Cowboy Johnson now shares stories of his demons, pains and redemption through his honest, compelling music and his unexpectedly smooth and gentle voice.
His first CD, A Grain of Sand, was released in 2003 as a tribute to the music of Texas artist Mickey Newbury. And now, the folks at Beach CITE Studios are excited to host a concert and release party this Friday, April 29, 2011, for Cowboy Johnson’s new CD, Old Friends. Appropriately, he will be joined in concert by a few of his favorite guests.
You’ll want to be at the studios’ Listening Room in SanRoc Cay, Orange Beach, when the doors open at 6:30 to be assured a seat for the 7:00 concert. Your admission is by donation at the door, and helps to bring more such outstanding artists to the Beach CITE Studios Listening Room. Learn more by visiting the Beach CITE Studios website and make your reservations by calling 251-981-1989.

It’s not every day that you get to experience up-close a guitar virtuoso who developed his own fingerstyle approach to incorporate into folk, jazz, country, rock and blues.

Folk, swing, jazz and more by virtuoso guitarist Mac Walter who uses his own fingerstyle method to create masterful music.
But it’s not an everyday kind of talent that brought Mac Walter to the forefront. Although already playing ukulele at age 15, he was encouraged to explore the guitar. Three months later he was playing in a band and he hasn’t stopped playing since. His fascination with music led him to study at Berklee College in Boston and then continue his studies with inspiring, hard-driving teachers, and Mac is now a role model to the next generations of true guitarists.
Beach CITE Studios—located at SanRoc Cay in Orange Beach, Alabama—is offering you an opportunity on Friday, April 22, 2011, to see, hear and feel the passion that exudes from the heart and fingers of Mac Walter.
As seating is limited at this intimate venue, call 251-981-1989 now to claim chairs for you and your friends. The entertainment begins at 7:30; your donation for admission will be accepted beginning at 7:00.

Among her many achievements, Susan Gibson may be best known for her song “Wide Open Spaces” that the Dixie Chicks easily coaxed into a number one hit in 1998. The song—winner of the Single of the Year at the 1999 Country Music Awards—also appeared on the Dixie Chicks album that won two Grammy awards that year.

Enjoy Susan Gibson's return engagement at Beach CITE Studios on Thursday, April 21, 2011.
Susan’s newest album, Tightrope, was released on Valentine’s Day of this year. The acoustic sounds don’t always come from “real” instruments, as they include percussion via cigar box, strums on a warped dobro and plucks on piano strings. Yet everything about the sparsely beautiful CD sounds comfortable and refreshing to the ears.
Susan’s Texas/Americana/folk style obviously strikes a chord with many people, as she has been successfully touring for the past 14 years, including numerous return engagements. Beach CITE Studios in Orange Beach, Alabama, is one of those welcoming venues filled with appreciative audiences who eagerly await another visit from this favored artist.
Discover why Susan Gibson’s performance talents are so favorably recognized. Join her on Thursday, April 21, 2011, at Beach CITE Studios’ Listening Room located in SanRoc Cay. Doors open at 7:00 for the 7:30 show. Donations are accepted at the door, but you are encouraged to call 251-981-1989 to assure a seat in this intimate facility.

You might recognize the name of the pianist/composer Scott Joplin. The titles “Maple Leaf Rag” or “The Entertainer” may be familiar. You probably would know “The Entertainer” to hear it even if you don’t recognize the title—it was well-received when it was written in 1902, burst into popularity again in 1973 as the theme music for the Oscar-winning movie The Sting, and is still heard today in commercials, video games and more.

Vibrant, masterful renditions of ragtime piano music will be heard at Beach CITE Studios Wednesday, April 6, 2011.
This style of music is known as ragtime, and encompasses the era of the early 20th century. It is recognized, along with the blues, as one of the greatest influences on the early development of jazz. But rather than the melodic and harmonic explorations of jazz, ragtime frames its rhythmic syncopation around more traditional harmonies.
On Wednesday, April 6, at 7:30 p.m., you will be gently and masterfully coaxed back a century by pianist Bobby VanDeusen. A classically trained pianist, Bobby honed his ragtime and stride styles while with the Delta Queen Steamboat Company. His amazingly gifted fingers have allowed him to headline in Branson, Missouri; play jazz in New Orleans with Al Hirt and Pete Fountain; travel the country as a featured entertainer with Hilton Hotels; and most recently tour with civic orchestras as the soloist in George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”
Your opportunity to hear this amazing talent and get lost in the sounds of a bygone era is here. The folks at Beach CITE Studios—located in SanRoc Cay, Orange Beach, Alabama—are looking forward to welcoming you to their Listening Room to hear the dazzling sounds of Bobby VanDeusen. Seating is limited, so it’s best to call ahead (251-981-1989) to reserve your spot. Admission is by donation at the door, which will open at 7:00.

Beach CITE Studios is at it again, bringing yet another terrific musician to their Listening Room at SanRoc Cay in Orange Beach, Alabama.

Bob Livingston brings people together across the world. Experience his gift at Beach CITE Studios at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, 2011.
Bob Livingston’s performances allow you to feel he’s in your living room, simply sharing time with his friends. His easy, melodic voice makes the troubles of the world melt away, whether singing an upbeat rockabilly number or a tender ballad.
Bringing people together is Bob’s specialty. Since the 1980s, he has toured India, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East—his stories of a not-so-ordinary life as a music ambassador for the U.S. State Department remind you that one person is never too small to make an impact in the world. Because of his outreach, he was honored in 2009 by being appointed as Austin’s International Music Ambassador.
As a member of the Lost Gonzo Band, Bob played a strong role in putting Austin, Texas on the map as the Live Music Capital of the World. While his music is rooted in country, he has never felt compelled to stay locked on that path. His newest creation is a collaboration between musicians from India and those from Texas. The idea has sparked such interest that a full musical play is being produced, with a scheduled opening for this summer.
Find out what makes Bob Livingston so special. Join him at Beach CITE Studios on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Donations are accepted at the door, but it is suggested you call 251-981-1989 to reserve your place, as seating is limited.
