The South Baldwin Community Theatre in Gulf Shores will draw a different crowd than usual on Sunday, March 7.

Sunday, March 7 brings the talents of three country music entertainers to Gulf Shores.
Accustomed to staged plays, musicals and revues, the audience that evening will be treated to a Grammy winner, a reality show star and a musical comedian—all thanks to special arrangements made by our own local 2008 Trop Rock Entertainer of the Year, Brent Burns.
The Grammy winner is none other than Linda Davis. She shared the award with Reba McEntire for Best Country Vocal Collaboration for their duet “Does He Love You?” that became a No. 1 hit. Linda is a popular song stylist who got her start in Nashville as a sought-after session singer.
Earning his big break as the first national champion of TNN’s You Can Be A Star, Lang Scott is an accomplished guitarist and vocalist. He is an MCA recording artist, and some of his songs have been recorded by well-known country stars.
Bill Whyte received the Country Music Association’s award for Best Large Market Personality during his career as a morning radio announcer. His songs are filled with lyrics that keep you laughing throughout his performance and after.
It’s not too late! You can enjoy this entertaining evening by calling 251-948-8863 now to reserve your seats. Tickets are $25/person for the 7:30 show. The theater is located at 2022 W. 2nd Ave.

Ask any reader of Christian novels to name the most well-known author in that genre, and invariably the answer is Gilbert Morris.

Join the discussion with prolific author Gilbert Morris on March 8 in Gulf Shores.
Combining his passion for history, religion, literature and writing has proven to be successful for this author—more than 200 of his books have been published, including the Christy Award-winning Edge of Honor. Although nearly all of his books are adult-level historical fiction, he has also touched the minds and hearts of the younger generation with his youth fiction.
Whether writing alone or co-creating with his children or friends, the pastor-turned-English-professor enjoys exploring characters, locations and specific time frames by crafting stories that are told through one of his 33 series.
Bring a friend and get acquainted with this prolific author at the Thomas B. Norton Public Library in Gulf Shores, the city he chooses to call home. Gilbert is eager to discuss his books, answer your questions and even sign your favorite tome on Monday, March 8 beginning at 6 p.m. (Don’t own one of his novels? Books will be available for purchase during this engagement.)
For further information about this free event, call 251-968-1176.

Yes, it is true. The knights in shining armor are headed this way, along with a full entourage of royalty and commoners, entertainers and merchants.

Experience life as it was 500 years ago at the Renaissance Faire in Pensacola on March 6 and 7.
Catapult yourself back a few hundred years to the Middle Ages, to the time of Shakespeare. At the Renaissance Faire, you not only see life of much earlier times, but you become a part of it, interacting with the costumed enthusiasts who enjoy presenting the experience.
Pensacola’s Renaissance Faire is the only venue on the Gulf Coast to offer live jousting on horseback, complete with full Medieval armor.
Stroll through the fairgrounds to encounter many other glimpses into historical entertainment, including sword swallowers, magical wizards, fire breathers, dancers (Arabian, Renaissance, Irish and gypsy), jesters, jugglers, storytellers and more.
Renaissance food and drink will be available to boost your energy as you peruse the Medieval market, try your luck at games of skill, and ride ponies and camels.
Admission is just $10 for adults and $5 for ages 12 and under; children 4 and under are admitted free.
Join the fun this weekend, March 6 and 7, from 10:00 to 5:00 each day. You will find this unique event at the Pensacola Interstate Fairgrounds, 6655 Mobile Hwy., approximately one hour from Gulf Shores.

Muscle cars and antique automobiles go with fried and grilled shrimp, fish and chicken. A silent auction and a raffle go well with live entertainment by Brent Burns. More than 30 arts & crafts vendor booths pair with K9 demonstrations plus kids’ activities such as rock wall climbing and balloon jumps.

Support youth sports programs at the Orange Beach Seafood Festival and Car Show Feb. 20.
And you, combined with the Orange Beach Sports Association, make it possible for the area’s young people to experience organized sports activities throughout the year.
From 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 20, you can have an impact on this organization by enjoying the Seafood Festival and Car Show—especially when you sink your teeth into the delicious (and generous) $10-per-plate seafood meal.
You can capture the fun and support this good cause at the Orange Beach Sportsplex, located off Canal Road, about a half mile east of the Foley Beach Express. To learn more about the annual event, call the Orange Beach Parks & Recreation office at 981-6039.
