But it’s more than just a scent: All of your senses are in for a treat this Sunday, September 20, when you attend the Beach, Blues & BBQ event at The Hangout in Gulf Shores, Alabama. Compete as a chef or eat your way through as many mouth-watering creations as you wish. Either way, you will also be helping to raise money for charity; proceeds will go to USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
Spend the morning and afternoon on the island’s beautiful white sand beach – just steps away from the cooking tents – and you’ll be ready to sample and vote on your favorite BBQ in the mid to late afternoon. The official judges will choose their winners, but your voucher purchases and your dollar votes determine the people’s choice winner. All include a cash prize for the winner.
While enjoying the incredible scents from the grills and the stunning coastline views, your ears won’t be ignored. Beginning at 12:30, five musical acts will share their blues music: The Rez, Kristy Lee, Cedric Burnside with Malcolm Lightning, Eric Lindell (celebrating the release of his newest CD, Gulf Coast Highway) and Papa Mali.
Compete in - or sample from - chicken, ribs and pork shoulder categories.
