Your family reunion or gathering of friends will be a great success when everyone can stay under the same roof.

Granite countertops and stainless steel appliances bring an up-to-date ease and efficiency that pairs beautifully with the hardwood floors and wooden furniture, a subconscious reminder of old-fashioned get-togethers filled with relaxation and easy conversation.

The first floor includes three bedrooms and a living room. The main living area, kitchen and dining area on the next level boast a wide gulf view, and a queen suite occupies another portion of the floor plan. The uppermost level claims a king master suite with a Jacuzzi tub and a separate shower.

Five bedrooms and four bathrooms, plus the comfy sofa sleepers found in both living areas, means your party will have ample elbow room. Tables indoors and out invite friendly chats accompanied by snacks and drinks, as well as a place for card or board games and itinerary discussions. Seven flat-screen TVs and two DVD players make it easy for everyone to enjoy movie nights.

“Casi Cielo” translates to “Almost Heaven.” It’s a perfect name for this house; the gulf-front setting easily persuades guests to bask in the peacefulness and beauty of its surroundings. But should you decide to explore the area (and we hope you do!), the convenient location behind Souvenir City in Orange Beach is also close to grocery and boutique shopping, exciting activities and an enticing variety of restaurants. U of AL Presents Godspell in Gulf Shores

Godspell has played across the world to rave reviews for more than 35 years, and it has finally arrived on the Alabama Gulf Coast.

For the 6th year, Gulf Shores area residents and guests are invited to enjoy a fun, energetic musical theater presentation during the month of June, thanks to an arrangement with University of Alabama’s Department of Theatre and Dance and a number of interested sponsors. Godspell certainly fits the bill.

Throughout the show, the 8-member cast recreates some of the parables found in the gospel according to St. Matthew. While this may sound like a heavy theme, the mood is anything but serious. The characters are silly, funny, excited, even childlike in their enthusiasm and joy.

The performers in this troupe may be of college age, but their rendition of Godspell is professional quality. Almost never do any actors leave the stage, making the roles rather demanding in spite of the lightheartedness. But with the strong talent onstage and off, the energy never sags and the pacing is tight.

Produced on Broadway in 1971, Godspell’s Grammy award-winning score includes the international hit “Day By Day.” The music was created by Stephen Schwartz, the same man who more recently composed the music for Wicked. Each of the cast members is the lead vocalist on at least one song, and the musical styles draw from Vaudeville to folk/pop to rock, rap and more.

SummerTide Theatre—where Broadway meets the beach. Don’t miss your opportunity to see this upbeat rock musical while visiting the white sands of the Alabama Gulf Coast. Shows continue nightly through July 3, except Mondays; curtain is at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the performance site—George C. Meyer Theatre Arts Center in Gulf Shores (corner of W. 19th Ave. and W. 2nd St.), 251-968-6721—or online. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for ages 12 and under. Call for group rates (parties of 10 or more).

And if you haven’t yet made your vacation plans, stay with Meyer Real Estate any time of the year and take advantage of many specials and hot deals available on beach, backwater or golf course condos and houses in Gulf Shores, Fort Morgan, Orange Beach (Alabama) and Perdido Key (Florida).

Choosing the Right Location for Your Beach Destination Wedding

Your beach destination wedding will be incredibly beautiful, simply because it’s your wedding – and all weddings are beautiful. You really can’t go wrong! But it can be quite a task to coordinate all the aspects for a distant venue. The following suggestions will help you more easily choose and secure the location that perfectly matches your vision, and the vendors to bring it all together.

Parks make lovely settings, whether surrounded by trees, water or both. In the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast area, the Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores welcomes weddings and receptions on the beach (with permit) and also offers rentals of the covered pavilion near the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach city line.

Finding a beach house that is suitable for both the wedding ceremony and the reception can be a little trickier. Locating rentals by owner often means searching through a number of resources and contacting each owner individually. Not all owners are willing to allow weddings at their property, since such an event will typically exceed the maximum allowed occupancy during the hours of celebration. Chances are that you’ll have more overnight guests than the house can accommodate, so you’ll need to contact more owners to arrange extra lodging space.

An easier option might be to enlist the services of a local vacation rental company. Describe what you are looking for and let them make suggestions of wedding-friendly properties based on knowledge of their inventory. Whether searching online on your own or calling the company, you can view photos and virtual tours plus details for each location, allowing you to more easily narrow your options. You may even choose to share links to your final choices and solicit input from your family and friends.

Housing your family and guests for a destination wedding does not need to be complicated. Whether folks wish to stay together in large beach houses that can accommodate up to 29 people, or individual families, couples and groups of friends prefer staying in a number of condos in the same building or complex, lodging becomes easier when calling upon the expertise of the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast’s largest vacation accommodation provider, Meyer Real Estate. You and your guests will be delighted to experience STAR Treatment when you partner with Meyer.

Now that you have chosen the Alabama Gulf Coast area for your destination wedding, and reserved your venue, it’s time to take care of the ceremony and reception. To simplify your search for wedding-related services, view this list of qualified vendors. You’ll find everything you need, from wedding planners to service and reception musicians to honeymoon havens. Let Meyer Real Estate be your one-stop source for the most beautiful destination wedding you can imagine.
